I never knew if I wanted Victor to be with Emily or Victoria, in the end. Either way the end is so painful to watch, with Emily bursting into butterflies (and I'm oh so busting into butterflies when I die, too). It's kind of a happy ending but I can't forget that the whole movie is about how her life was WASTED. And that, my friends, is really sad.

I loved this movie and I had no idea who I wished Victor to be with either -I feel sorry that Emily had a wasted life but at the same time Victoria could have gone the same way as her.
